MINIMALISM

Creating Minimalism in Interior Design:

Introduction: Minimalism is a design movement characterized by clean lines and forms, minimalist decorative elements, and maximum functionality. The primary rule of minimalism in interior design is the principle of elimination of excess. Fewer details, concise decor, simple forms, and a focus on practicality create an effect of functional emptiness, where the room contains everything necessary and nothing superfluous.

Key Features of the Style:

  1. Abundance of empty space.
  2. Plenty of light, playing a key role in the room.
  3. Functional, modern furniture.
  4. Minimum of items and pieces of furniture.

How to Arrange an Apartment in the Minimalist Style:

Kitchen: The kitchen area should be devoid of all visible elements and decor; everything that can be hidden should be maximally concealed. In the kitchen, you can increase the number of lighting elements; it's not worth limiting yourself to just overhead lighting. "We would recommend some combination, for example: spotlights above the countertop, hidden LED strip in the backsplash area, and neat pendant lamps over the table."

Bathroom: The practicality of the bathroom dictates the main requirement for it - that it should be easy to clean. Minimalism allows you to fully realize this requirement here because the bathroom space will not be cluttered. The toilet tank should be concealed, the bathtub should be built-in, and if it's a shower, it should be recessed. "For the shower, never choose a ready-made cabin that looks like a spacesuit."

Bedroom: Minimalism in the bedroom means a large comfortable bed without legs, monochrome textiles, and soft diffuse lighting, preferably concealed. You can use compact sconces above the headboard, replacing bedside tables. In the bedroom, a torchiere or an accent painting on the wall can serve as decor.

Advantages and Disadvantages of the Style:

Advantages:

  • Simplicity and conciseness.
  • Focus on functionality.
  • Less furniture and accessories, saving space and money.
  • Streamlined design, reducing visual noise.
  • Convenient for those who don't like cleaning.

Disadvantages:

  • May appear too sterile and boring.
  • Can look unwelcoming and cold.
  • It may be difficult to create a cozy atmosphere.
  • Requires attention to detail.
  • Can look monotonous.

How to Maintain Minimalist Design Integrity:

  • Initially, choose furniture that is easier to match to the color of the walls and ceilings.
  • Do not neglect comfort and convenience. Beauty and aesthetics should not prevent relaxation.
  • Minimalism does not tolerate anything extra in its interior. Even if you bought some cute trinket, resist the temptation to put it on public display.
  • Get rid of unnecessary items; put them in drawers.
  • Strictness and straightness of forms are correct. Round chairs, poufs are permissible, but do not overdo it.

Conclusion: The interior of a home in the minimalist style is considered the easiest to perceive. Everyone who is tired of chaos and bustle will find it pleasant and comfortable to be in such a dwelling. The main thing is to be able to implement it correctly so that it does not turn into asceticism.
